Good afternoon! Pastor Gaylene here. If you have not driven down the highways and sometimes in neighborhoods, you are missing something so wonderful. The beautiful bluebonnets are in full bloom and they are gorgeous. I love bluebonnets!
This week’s message begins with a parade. We call this Palm Sunday. Jesus and his disciples and other followers begin walking, waving palm branches and singing hymns as Jesus comes down the street in Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. This is known as The Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. For us this signifies the final week of Jesus life–and represents Jesus’ kingship, humility and the beginning of the Passion.

On Thursday Jesus will observe His final meal with His disciples. We call this Maundy Thursday. Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and his death on Calvary. It is considered “good” because it marks the ultimate sacrifice, freeing humanity from sins rather than referencing a happy event. And all of this leads up to the joys of Easter Sunday!
The message I am going to deliver is titled, “Only a Suffering God Can Help.” Jesus took on all the sins of humanity and dying to restore the relationship between God and His people. And when we are going through hard times God walks through those hard times with us because God understands, and
Jesus understands suffering. Come and see and find yourself in the arms of Jesus when the going gets tough.
This week we will celebrate the brand new cross on the side of the church that faces the highway. It is a beautiful cross crafted and installed by several members of our congregation. Following worship this Sunday we will bless and dedicate this beautiful symbol of God’s love, mercy and grace.
