Hi everyone! Pastor Gaylene here!
I think fall is finally trying to show up. At least in the mornings. I love walking out on my front porch early in the morning and just smelling the air and feeling the crispness of the 50 degree weather. It doesn’t stay that way very long, but I have lots of hope, a warm sweater and fuzzy slippers.
This week’s message is about a difficult concept. Jesus takes the Disciples off by themselves and tells them another parable. This parable is about the ten bridesmaids. The basics are there are ten bridesmaids on their way to a wedding and are waiting on the bridegroom. Five of the bridesmaids bring their lamps filled with oil and some extra oil in case they run out. The other five bridesmaids bring their lamps filled with oil, but no extra oil. And that is where the high drama starts. This is Jesus telling the disciples about the end times. I really hope you will be here to walk through this story. It is a doozy! You won’t want to miss it!!
This week is Breakfast Burrito Saturday. We begin serving at 8:00 and usually end at 10:00. We make in the neighborhood of just under 200 burritos each first Saturday. They are snatched up quickly because they are so yummy! So get there early so you can get some of the best burritos in town served with coffee and juice by the friendliest folks in town.
Also, this week on Tuesday at 10:00 we will be filling Blessing Bags. We take these filled bags to the Center of Hope in Springtown and Azle to help out homeless folks and anyone in need. Blessing bags are paper bags filled with food items including vienna sausage, chicken packets, granola bars, microwavable ravioli, personal items including socks, bandanas, toothbrushes, toothpaste and in November we collect warm hats and gloves or mittens as the weather is beginning to change. You can drop off your donations at Hope Lutheran Church in Springtown, TX. All are welcome to come and help fill these bags. It’s a lot of fun.
Hope Lutheran is a friendly, coffee drinking, come as you are congregation. Our worship includes communion. All are welcome at the table of grace, mercy and forgiveness. Come and join us. We would love to see you!
