Hi! Pastor Gaylene here! I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you ate too much turkey and mashed potatoes and pie! We had a wonderful time at my brother and sister-in-law’s house with my nieces, their spouses and their kids. Lots for which to be thankful!

This Sunday will be the first Sunday of Advent. There are four Sundays in the season of Advent. Advent is a time for prayer and reflection, focusing on the coming of Jesus. The four themes are hope, peace, joy and love. The Advent wreath will hold a candle to represent the theme of the day. This Sunday is the Sunday of Hope.
Our message will come from Matthew 24: 36-44. Jesus taught that no one will know the day or the hour of His coming. He teaches us to stay awake and stay ready for when He returns. His teaching is intended to give us hope to the tired and weary world, and even though we don’t know when, scripture tells us who is coming. It will be Jesus. My favorite image is the one John captures in Revelation 19: 16 with Jesus coming wearing a white robe with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords on his thigh. Such a majestic sight to behold.
We are offering a time of quiet contemplation prior to worship during the season of Advent. Beginning at 9:45 folks may come in for a few minutes of quiet prayer time or just quiet time. People may stay seated or go to the altar for prayer. I will be at the altar if any would like to have prayer with me. There will also be a special area where candles can be lit in memory, for healing or for continued prayer. The candles may also be lit following communion.
9:00-9:45 Sunday School for all ages and play practice
9:45–10:00 Quiet prayer time in the sanctuary
10:00-11:15(ish) Worship with communion for ALL.
If you are looking for a new church home or if you have come to Hope Lutheran in the past…try us again! You are welcome here. We are a very friendly group of folks and would love to meet and greet and share in worship and fellowship with you. We are a casual dress group so come as you are. The coffee pot is always hot.
See you Sunday! PGC (Pastor Gaylene Chrystie)
