Hi everyone! Pastor Gaylene here!
I hope you are all well and enjoying these last days of school, whether you are a student, teacher or admin, summer vacation is almost here! I spent 42 years in the classroom and looked forward to the few days of vacation between classes and kids and the summer’s worth of professional development! (NOT!!!)

This Sunday is a very special day in the life of the church. This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. It is the day that is celebrated 50 days after Easter. It is known as the “Birthday of the Church.” This week’s lesson will come from Acts 2: 1-21. It is the very famous passage of the Holy Spirit descending on the Disciples with loud winds and tongues of fire. These tongues allow the Disciples to preach the gospel to the many nations represented in Jerusalem on that day.
Their preaching had a phenomenal twist to it. Each of those countries present at this gathering heard the gospel preached in their own language. Now that’s a miracle! Now I cannot guarantee tongues of fire and mighty winds (but don’t discount the possibility). But I can guarantee the Gospel will be preached in English by a white haired woman down front in a red dress and sneakers. The central theme is in the receiving of the Holy Spirit as our partner that walks “alongside us” as we travel our life in Christ as our Advocate. The sermon title is “Pentecost…Not Your Average Worship Service.” So wear RED this Sunday and participate in this grand birthday celebration.
