HOPE IS ALIVE – February 13, 2026

Hi everyone! Pastor Gaylene here.

I hope your day has started with something or someone that brings you joy!. And Happy Valentine’s Day Eve!  You still have two days to tell someone you love how much you love them with your whole heart and maybe something chocolate!!

This week’s message is from Matthew 17: 1-9. This is the last Sunday during the season of Epiphany. Epiphany is also known as the season of light. Beginning this week on Ash Wednesday we will have six weeks of darkness before the season of Easter. The high point of Ash Wednesday is the placing of ashes blended with some oil on our foreheads in the shape of the cross. It is a reminder of the penitential nature of the season of Lent. During the season of Lent many congregations will practice fasting. Other ways to practice a sacrificial act could be to set our watches to a time each day for prayer, read a Lenten devotional, decide to give up something for Lent, some will give up sweets and other sugary things. We can also add a sacrificial act in our lives such as volunteering at a soup kitchen or other organization that assists those who are in need. Join a Bible Study.

The message this week is Matthew 17: 1-9; The Transfiguration of Jesus. This is the pivotal New Testament event. This is the story of Jesus bringing Peter, James and John up the mountain and He is Transfigured, or changed as he is seen in heaven. Dazzling light and joined by Elijah and Moses. It is also the moment when God speaks to them covered in a cloud declaring, “This is My Son, who I love, with HIm I am well pleased. And the most important words come last “Listen to Him! Come join us at Hope and see what happens next!
